About this event

On the occasion of Nuit Blanche, the Ygrec art center is hosting, on June 6, 2026, a collective exhibition around the artistic research project Through a Glass, Darkly, carried out jointly by ENSAPC and the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München.

Designed as a laboratory of creation and reflection, this initiative explores glass as a sensitive material, sometimes transparent, shiny, sometimes opaque or matte, located between memory and illusion, visible and invisible. A medium that is both fragile and sharp, glass becomes here a field of experimentation where sculpture, installation, image and light intersect.

Since November 2025, around twenty German and French students have shared workshops, collaborated on research and artistic practices between Munich and Paris, giving rise to a meeting of approaches based on glassmaking know-how, but also on the sharing of experiences and contemporary references.

Au The heart of the project is the discovery of exceptional glassmaking techniques in Bavaria: artisanal blowing, glass painting, mosaic, opening up possibilities for sculpture, painting and installation practices. The participants developed an approach to glass that was both plastic — through various workshops — and conceptual, thanks in particular to a seminar devoted to glass, enriched by visits to emblematic places of art, architecture and glass heritage.

The exhibition presented at the Ygrec art center thus brings together a selection of works developed over the course of this year of collective research. Each proposal reflects a dialogue between artisanal practices, contemporary plastic experiments and reflection on transparency, density and the capacity of glass to transform light into a true artistic language.

This evening will also give rise to performances, sculptures and paintings visible from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Through a Glass, Darkly invites the public to discover the works of two European art schools united around the same question: how to disturb the gaze.
