About this event
To evoke the prodigious mysteries of the appearance of life on Earth, the fantastic creatures of the abyss, astonishing stories of adventure and exile and the future of marine ecosystems, the MAIF Social Club embarks for its All-Nighter visual artists, CNRS researchers and audio-naturalists. The sea, the night is an invitation to reconnect with the vast expanses of the ocean, when the relationship we have with them is so symptomatic of our way of (dis)considering the world around us, the living and otherness.
ON THE PROGRAM:🌊 The exhibition See the sea🎙️ Micro-conferences: Facing the seaAt the start of the evening, attend the micro-conferences Unexpected Escapes from CNRS. Come and dive into the ocean, a central environment for ecosystems, populations and the climate, through the eyes of three scientists. Biology, ecology, human sciences... so many complementary approaches to address the different challenges of a changing sea.
With Sarah Samadi, ecologist at the CNRS on the exploration of the deep ocean, and Jade Nijman, doctor in visual cultures at the Jean-Nicod Institute, on representations of the ocean in the arts.
🎧 Immersive and sound experienceThroughout the evening, let yourself be carried away by the sound creation of the explorer and audio-naturalist Fernand Deroussen, composed especially for the Nuit Blanche. Lying in front of a high-definition acoustic device, you will listen to the song of the waves, seabirds, foghorns and even the sounds produced by shrimps, octopuses and cetaceans. A score usually invisible to our ears.
