About this event
The carousel has established itself as an obvious form, a universal object, anchored in childhood and pleasure, which nevertheless contains something dizzying. His playful practice plays on distortion, changes of scale and the movement of the spectator, mixing childhood, absurdity and motorized devices to set the image in motion.
Carousel is an installation composed of a kinetic sculpture and a set of large format silhouettes arranged in the surrounding space. href="https://www.paris.fr/evenements/etudiants-de-la-filiere-fresque-art-en-situation-de-l-ecole-nationale-des-beaux-arts-de-paris-falando-de-amor-110746">STUDENTS IN THE FRESCO & ART SITUATION SECTOR OF THE NATIONAL SCHOOL OF BEAUX-ARTS DE PARIS / Carousel, honeycomb cardboard, inkjet prints, metal, rotating mechanism, 2026The Carousel as a metaphor for life and its perpetual movements, these ups and downs, this alternation of joy and worry that passes through us all. Falando de Amor
The carousel, made of cardboard, animates heterogeneous characters who rotate, rise and fall continuously all night: everyday objects, symbols of death, play, the living. Love is part of it, but also fear, desire, mourning, the absurd. Around them, these same characters are deployed widely in space, motionless, as if escaped from the movement.
Nina Fiorentini is a Franco-Italian artist, born in Paris in 1999, graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2025 and currently in the Fresco & Art in Situation sector. What rotates and what remains still respond to each other: on the one hand the incessant movement, on the other the deployed presence, the expansion in space.
The project is born from a reflection on life and its contradictions, this coexistence of the joyful and the worrying, the trivial and the serious. Between photography, installation and in situ interventions, she explores how images inhabit and transform space.
