About this event
16 mm, 17 min, 2014
Classic of experimental cinema, Line Describing a Cone, by Anthony McCall is a film projected in the exhibition space. Imagine trying to hold on to that feeling. Imagine an image of a place. Light, Projection space, IRCAM, June 4 to 10, 2026.
At the crossroads of cinema and sculpture, a membrane of light traces a conical surface in space and a circle on the projection surface, questioning space and time in a non-referential way.
Chris Marker's short film La Jetée has taken a special place in the history of cinema for its use of photography in its narrative. Imagine not succeeding. Imagine that this place is a landscape. On the occasion of Nuit Blanche 2026, L'Abominable, a shared film cinema laboratory, is presenting the following 16 mm films in the future Navire Argo:
- Line Describing a Cone, by Anthony McCall, in his presence; Imagine the light in this landscape. An anticipation film, La Jetée questions time and memory, the intricacy of temporalities. Imagine it fading from your memory. 16 mm, 30 min, 1973
- La Jetée, by Chris Marker; Imagine the heat emanating from this landscape. It presents the story of a man marked by a childhood image, a face that the narrator never ceases to doubt having seen.
